Resident registration opens February 3 for Gaithersburg’s popular summer camp programs. All-day and partial-day camps for elementary and middle schoolers and half-day Youth Activity Programs for those in elementary school will be conducted in four separate sessions: Session I runs June 21 –July 1; Session II July 5 – July 15; Session III July 18 – 29; and Session IV August 1 – August 5. All-day camps will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended aftercare from 4 to 6 p.m. available for an additional fee. Also offered this year are specialty camps and clinics for middle school students, with sessions focusing on video production, audio recording, Minecraft modding, and video game design. The specialty camps have different session dates and times. In addition to the summer camps, the City also offers specialized visual and performing arts camps, sports, gymnastics and dance clinics, and five sessions of the School of Skate. Summer camps and clinics are held at a variety of convenient locations throughout the City, including schools in the Kentlands/Lakelands area and youth centers in the heart of Olde Towne. Job openings are available for those 16 and older who enjoy working with kids and are talented in arts, music and sports. Qualified applicants could work up to 45 hours per week. Gaithersburg Summer Camps are sponsored by Quincy’s Bar & Grille and Carmen’s Italian Ice & Café. Registration for City of Gaithersburg residents begins February 3.
