Asking for Contributing To AVA
November 18, 2019
Dear AVA Friends and Supporters,
On behalf of the Association of Vietnamese American (AVA)’s Board of Directors and staff, I would like to express my gratitude for your trust, contribution and support. I wish you and your family a year full of good health, good luck, and happiness.
As in previous years, 2019 has been a very productive and effective year for AVA in helping the community. AVA has succesfully implemented the Citizenship Preparation Classes in 2019, supported by Montgomery County and Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (MCAEL), to help applicants best prepare for their citizenship examination. AVA has been implementing a community outreach project to provide information about the Affordable Care Act (ACA)/Obama Care, and helping the community sign up for timely health care coverage. In addition, AVA also organized an annual Academic Awards Picnic to award two $1,000 college scholarships to two deserving high school seniors, and recognize outstanding Vietnamese American students attending Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for their excellence in academic performance, leadership skills and community involvement. Every week, we organize a free after-achool Tutoring, Empowerment And Mentoring (TEAM) program for MCPS students to improve their grades and prepare for their future.
Furthermore, on Sunday, January 12, 2020, we are excited to host our annual Lunar New Year “Tet” Festival to maintain and preserve Vietnamese culture, customs and traditions, with a cultural entertainment program.
This is only made possible with the support of community-minded individuals like you. However, AVA is still facing many difficulties. We hope you will help us continue our good work to serve those in needs in our community each year, and help us best prepare for the upcoming 2020 Tet Festival. We have enclosed an envelope for your convenience. Every donation makes a difference, regardless of the amount. All donations made payable to “AVA” are tax deductible to the extend allowed by the law.
We thank you for your continued support to AVA over the years. May every day of the New Year bring you and your family good luck, prosperity and good health.
