Posted: March 04, 2016 Pickleball Registration is now open for the Spring Adult Pickleball League. Games take place on Thursdays, March 24 through May 12, 2016 from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue. The cost per player is $40, $30 for City residents. Players must be 18 years or older. Registration deadline is March 16. Registration is for doubles teams, including men’s, women’s and coed, and all teams play together. Two self-rated divisions include Beginner/Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced. Teams will compete in at least three games per night with each game played to 11 points or 15 minutes, whichever comes first. Prizes will be awarded to the top team in each division with the best overall record at the end of the season. Drop-in Pickleball takes place every Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon through June at the Activity Center. Cost is $4, $3 for City residents. Sign in and pay at the front desk. Paddles and balls are provided. Pickleball, played with a paddle and whiffle ball, combines elements of tennis, Ping-Pong and badminton. The easy-to-learn game is played on a small court that is one-third the size of a traditional tennis court and can be played as singles or doubles.
