For Immediate Release: Friday, August 19, 2016 To better serve participants in the Senior Sneakers program, Montgomery County Recreation has announced it will extend access to Community Recreation Center gyms during all weekday hours at each center, while keeping the $50 annual program fee. The new hours go into effect September 1, 2016. Previously, the Senior Sneaker hours were 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Not all seniors have their days free. Many are still employed and others may care for their grandchildren or other family during the day,” Montgomery County Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz said. “One should not have to choose between keeping fit and taking care of daytime responsibilities.” Montgomery County Recreation’s popular Senior Sneaker program helps adults age 55 and older have access to quality exercise/weight rooms Monday through Friday. The program is available at nearly every Community Recreation Center.
