The City of Gaithersburg’s popular Backyard Concerts return to neighborhood parks with two family-friendly evenings of great music to dance and sing along to. Both performances are free. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or low lawn chair. Donations of nonperishable items for Manna Food Center are appreciated. American Idol finalist Travis Tucker is an incredibly diverse entertainer performing ballads, raps, dance tunes and more. Join him on Sunday, June 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Constitution Gardens, 112 Brookes Avenue. Not just a singer, Tucker performs with electrifying dance moves and natural charisma. He is also an accomplished songwriter and motivational speaker who is best known for his appearance on American Idol Season 4, where he advanced to the top 16. Enjoy Brazilian jazz music with Encantada on Friday, September 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Diamond Farms Park, 857 Quince Orchard Boulevard. Encantada delivers a polished, high-energy show combining sultry bossa nova with classic, propulsive samba and baiao rhythms that bring the audience to their feet. Julie Mack sings some songs in their original Portuguese, but conveys the song’s story in English, making this truly “enchanting” music accessible to all.
