Independence Day Closures & Recycling Notices
In observance of Independence Day, all City facilities will be closed on Monday, July 4 with the exception of the following: The Miniature Golf Course will open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Water Park will open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Notice: The Water Park will be open for the exclusive use of City residents and aquatics members only on July 4. The Skate Park will open from 3 to 11 p.m. Fourth of July Event & Fireworks Information Roadway Impacts for Monday, July 4 S. Frederick Avenue: The curb lane from S. Summit Avenue to W. Deer Park Road will be eliminated in both the North and South Bound directions from 4 p.m. until 12 a.m. No stopping or standing will allowed on S. Frederick Avenue during this same time. All crossovers on S. Frederick Avenue from Cedar Avenue to Central Avenue will be closed from 4 p.m. until 12 a.m. All traffic must make right hand turns only to access S. Frederick Avenue. S. Summit Avenue: S. Summit Avenue will closed at Hutton Street and at Olde Towne Avenue from 9 until 11 p.m. Traffic exiting the Olde Towne Parking facilities after the event will be directed as to how and where to exit the area. Expect delays up and down the Frederick Avenue / MD-355 corridor. Please drive slowly and watch for pedestrians. Recycling & Bulk Pick Up The City of Gaithersburg announces that the collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday, July 4, 2016, will take place the preceding Saturday, July 2. This includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and commingled materials, as well as brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings, picked up by the City’s recycling contractor. Bulk items are collected by City crews on the first recycling day of the month. Bulk pick up for residents whose regular bulk pick up day is Monday, July 4, 2016, will take place the following Monday, July 11. Regular trash and garbage collection for City residents is handled by private contractors.
