Free Summer Outdoor Concert: Mariachi Flor de Toloache Latin Grammy Nominee Mariachi Flor de Toloache is the first and only established all-female mariachi band founded in New York. With raw emotion, superb musicianship, and spunky swagger, Flor de Toloache pays tribute to traditional Mexican music while pushing boundaries. It’s no wonder The Wall Street Journal called them a “mariachi band with cosmopolitan edge.” The band got its start busking in the subways of New York City in 2008. Although the group formed as a trio, it now features a rotating cast of about 13 members performing on traditional mariachi instruments—violin, trumpet, guitarrón (bass), and vihuela (five-string guitar). Flor de Toloache recently toured with Dan Auerbach’s band The Arcs, both as members and opening act.
