To be eligible, students must have a sponsor (for example, a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach or guardian) to monitor their progress fulfilling six out of 16 “good deeds” on a form, such as perfect attendance in school for one month, volunteering with a charity, picking up litter in a public place, or helping someone who is sick or elderly. The deadline for submission of forms listing good deeds is April 8 (postmarked by that day if mailed). The forms can be dropped off or mailed to Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850. All successful participants receive a certificate for taking part and are invited to attend the Rockville Mayor and Council meeting, Monday, May 1, at 7 p.m. Awardees receive their reconditioned bikes and new helmets at a special event, 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., Sunday, May 21, hosted by Rockville Bike Hub. Bike donations will be received from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at the Glenview Mansion parking lot, 603 Edmonston Drive.
