This year marks the 91st anniversary of the tree lighting ceremony. The festivities take place at the City Hall Concert Pavilion in Olde Towne on Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. This joyous event, perfect for families with young children, features performances by Impact Dance Studio, Gaithersburg High School Chamber Singers, Gaithersburg High School Band, and Pritchard Music Powerhouse Brass. The Gaithersburg Chorus will lead a Sing-Along of festive tunes. Children will delight in meeting Santa, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Elmo, and Cookie Monster.
