Quyên góp các mặt hàng mới hoặc đã qua sử dụng cho sự kiện ‘Prom Couture Closet’
Montgomery County Recreation một lần nữa giúp biến giấc mơ tham dự vũ hội thành hiện thực cho học sinh trung học của Quận. Sở đang thu thập váy, vest, áo sơ mi giặt khô, giày dép, cà vạt và phụ kiện đã qua sử dụng và mới mà học sinh có thể lựa chọn trong sự kiện tặng quà Prom Couture Closet.

Hiện đang trong quá trình thu thập. Váy, bộ đồ và phụ kiện có thể được quyên góp tại Trung tâm Giải trí Cộng đồng Marilyn J. Praisner từ Thứ Hai đến Thứ Năm từ 9 giờ sáng đến 9 giờ tối, Thứ Sáu từ 9 giờ sáng đến 6 giờ chiều và Thứ Bảy từ 10 giờ sáng đến 3 giờ chiều, đến hết Thứ Sáu, ngày 28 tháng 2.
Cơ quan Giải trí Quận Montgomery cũng sẽ tổ chức các ngày thu gom đặc biệt vào:
Thứ Bảy, ngày 22 tháng 2, từ 10 giờ sáng đến 3 giờ chiều tại Trung tâm Giải trí Cộng đồng Jane E. Lawton , số 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase.
Thứ Bảy, ngày 1 tháng 3, 10 giờ sáng – 3 giờ chiều tại Trung tâm Giải trí Cộng đồng Germantown , 18905 Kingsview Road, Germantown.
Vào thứ Bảy, ngày 5 tháng 4, tại Trung tâm Giải trí Cộng đồng Marilyn J. Praisner, tọa lạc tại 14906 Old Columbia Pike ở Burtonsville, bất kỳ học sinh trung học nào có thẻ căn cước sẽ có thể “mua sắm tại các giá hàng” và chọn một chiếc váy dạ hội hoặc bộ vest, giày dép và phụ kiện miễn phí từ 10 giờ sáng đến 2 giờ chiều

Donate New or Gently Used Items for ‘Prom Couture Closet’ Event

Montgomery County Recreation is again helping make the dream of attending prom a reality for County high school students. The Department is collecting gently used and new dresses, suits, dry cleaned shirts, shoes, ties and accessories that students will be able to choose from during the Prom Couture Closet giveaway event.
“Celebrating prom is a momentous occasion for many students,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Unfortunately, the high cost of prom apparel and accessories can prevent students from participating. For the fourth year, Montgomery County Recreation’s ‘Prom Couture Closet’ event is helping to make the dream night possible. I encourage residents and businesses to contribute prom-related items and support this effort to give our youth a memorable prom experience.”
Hundreds of students have attended this event over the past three years.
Collection is currently underway. Dresses, suits and accessories can be donated at Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., through Friday, Feb. 28.
Montgomery County Recreation will also host special collection dates on:
Saturday, Feb. 22, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center, 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase.
Saturday, March 1, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Germantown Community Recreation Center, 18905 Kingsview Road, Germantown.
On Saturday, April 5, at Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, located at 14906 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville, any high school student with their I.D. card will be able to “shop the racks” and choose a free prom dress or suit, shoes and accessories from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Prom Couture Closet giveaway event seeks to eliminate the financial obstacle of attending prom, which for many students, turns out to be one of the most memorable days of high school.
Montgomery County Hosts Seventh Annual ‘Girl Power Contest’

In recognition of March as Women’s History Month, the Montgomery County Commission for Women, Montgomery County Public Libraries and Friends of the Library Montgomery County Inc. are hosting the Seventh Annual “Girl Power Contest” from March 1-31.
County residents ages 5 and up, are encouraged to submit a short story, poem, drawing or entry in the medium of their choice that addresses this year’s theme, “empowering women”.
Submissions can be sent here and participants should focus on this prompt: What business would you create in Montgomery County and what impact would it have on the girls and women in our community?
“As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I encourage residents to participate in the Seventh Annual ‘Girl Power Contest’ by sharing your ideas for a business that empowers women in our community, said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “You are not just contributing to a competition, but to the fabric of our shared future. I thank the Montgomery County Commission for Women for hosting this project, and to all participants for their creative contributions.”
Entries can be submitted online here and are limited to one per person. Written entries should be a maximum of 500 words. Entries should include the participant’s full name, age, grade and school (if applicable), phone number and email address.
Winners will be announced at the end of April and will receive a swag bag and be featured on the Commission for Women’s Facebook, Instagram and X.
Entries submitted by anyone under the age of 18 must include written permission from a parent or guardian and be the minor’s own work.
All entries become the property of the Montgomery County Commission for Women and may be used for publicity purposes. The contest is sponsored by the Montgomery County Commission for Women, Montgomery County Public Libraries and Friends of the Library, Montgomery County.
