Montgomery County Teens to Raise Hurricane Relief Funds at “Rock-n-Relief” Concert at AMP

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 13, 2017 Some talented Montgomery County teens are joining with the Montgomery County Department of Recreation and Strathmore to present a benefit concert called Rock-n-Relief. The event will raise money for hurricane victims and their communities in Florida and Texas. The Rock-n-Relief concert, featuring local youth bands and singers, will take place on Sept. 17 from 5 – 7 p.m. at AMP by Strathmore, which is located at 11810 Grand Park Avenue in North Bethesda. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online at the AMP by Strathmore website or at the door. “We are very proud of our youth, staff and partners who are working hard to help those who were harmed by the recent devastating storms,” said Department of Recreation Division Chief Robin Riley. “The concert will be spectacular but it is the compassion of the kids who give their time and share their talents that will make this such a memorable event.” Radio host Angie Ange from 93.9 WKYS will host the event, which is being described by organizers as a “a youth-powered hurricane relief effort.” In addition to music, there will be door prizes from Bach2Rock (B2R). The music lineup includes the following performers:  Anna Wilson  Leanna Rathbun  Lisaura Taveras  Overmind  TJ Brenof  Dylan Hawkins  F-35’s  B2R Bands In addition, a limited number of event shirts will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the relief efforts. The hurricane relief concert is being organized to show local support for rebuilding efforts in Florida and Texas following hurricanes Irma and Harvey. The Maryland Recreation and Parks Association will serve as the trustee and distribute the disaster relief funds to the Houston Parks Board Foundation and the Florida Recreation and Park Association Foundation.
