Need Volunteers for Homebuying Education Workshop! We are projecting 150 to 200 diverse ‘first-time homebuyers’ to attend, in addition to sponsors, partners and exhibitors. Due to the projected size of attendees, AAHC is in need of Volunteers. Event Dates: Northern Virginia: May 11th at NVCC, Ernest Community Cultural Center in Annandale 8333 Little River Turnpike Annandale,VA 22003 Maryland: May 25 at Montgomery County Executive Office Building in Rockville 101 Monroe Street Rockville, MD 20850 (near Rockville Town Center Metro) Who we are looking for: AAHC is looking for volunteers who enjoy working with a diverse, multi-lingual population. Volunteers should be dependable, have excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work with little supervision. The ability to speak one of the following languages is a plus but not a requirement: Chinese -Mandarin and/or Cantonese, Hindi, Hmong, Korean, Sri Lankan, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Vietnamese, or any other languages. Most importantly, AAHC is seeking volunteers who have a passion and willingness to serve their community. *All volunteers will be provided Breakfast, Lunch & given a Free Volunteer T-Shirt, in addition to sit and listen to the various speakers address their services and programs.* **T-Shirts are limited and are provided through a “first-come-first-serve” basis.** Volunteering Roles: There are many roles that Volunteers will play but primary, volunteers will: 1.) General Assistance for all Attendee’s: Welcoming; Directing Traffic in Parking Lot; Direct Attendee’s to Registration Desk; Help with Seating 2.) Help Promote event in their respected community If applicable: 3.) Translation for clients understanding a language other than English. Volunteers may be asked to play various roles throughout the event depending on changing circumstances and needs. Volunteers must be available to stay from 8:00am to 3:30pm.
