For Immediate Release: 1/2/2015 Residents in Trash/Recycling Areas Affected by Strike Advised to Put Items Out for Saturday, January 3 Collection as Usual; Final Holiday Slide Day The Montgomery County Division of Solid Waste Services/DSWS (Department of Environmental Protection) reminds residents scheduled for trash and recycling collections on Saturday, January 3, in the areas affected by the strike at Unity Disposal and Recycling LLC, to put their trash and recyclables out by 7 a.m. Residents are also reminded that because there was no County-provided trash or recycling collection on January 1, the Thursday and Friday pickups slide one day with Friday customers serviced on Saturday. The normal Monday through Friday collection schedule will resume beginning Monday, January 5. DSWS says that in spite of the strike at Unity, the company is still servicing its routes in Montgomery County and having items at curbside by 7 a.m. is also especially important at this time of year when trash and recycling collections are heavy due to the impact of the holidays. The County appreciates the cooperation of residents in the specified areas during this period. Residents in the affected areas may call 311 with questions about their service and can view service information and maps of the affected areas at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/sws/strike. # # # Release ID: 15-001 Media Contact: Bonnie Ayers 301-325-5878 or Ohene Gyapong240-483-1932
