For Immediate Release: 5/5/2015 Homebuyer Education Workshop and Resource Day to be Held May 16 Potential homebuyers are invited to attend the Asian-American Homeownership Counseling, Inc.’s (AAHC) Spring Homebuyer Education Workshop and Resource Day on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Springbrook High School, 201 Valleybrook Drive, Silver Spring. This free event is organized by AAHC and sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs and other partner organizations. The workshop will bring together the different players in the homebuying process under one roof, including mortgage lenders, realtors, insurance representatives and local government representatives. Additionally, those who RSVP to the event will be entered to win $2,000 in down payment assistance, as well as receive a free copy of their credit report and score. Some of the many informative topics include: available government and non-government homebuyer assistance programs; how to receive a federal tax credit of up to $2,000 each year; available down payment assistance; first time homebuyer mortgage programs; and information on low to moderate income homes (MPDUs). AAHC is a HUD-approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit housing counseling agency committed to the stabilization and invigoration of the housing economy in the Metropolitan Area. Services include foreclosure prevention, credit and money management counseling, first-time homebuyer education and pre-purchase counseling to all residents of Maryland, DC and Virginia.
