For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 28, 2016 In observance of National Energy Action month in October, the Montgomery County Departments of Environmental Protection, General Services and Public Libraries are inviting residents to participate in Energy Exploration – an interactive experience for all ages at five County library branches. Energy Exploration will consist of hands-on arcade games that are fun for the whole family. Each arcade game highlights a different energy tip, including the importance of weatherizing your home, LED lighting, saving water, and heating and cooling your home. Along with the arcade games, each event offers opportunities for one-on-one time with County energy experts, Pepco Representatives, and librarians, as well as, the chance to learn how the County is improving energy efficiency with solar panels and LED lighting. Two Energy Exploration events, at the Marilyn Praisner and Gaithersburg library branches, will also feature appliance recycling. Residents are encouraged to bring and recycle old working room air conditioners or dehumidifiers, and Pepco will provide rebates of $25 (maximum $50 per person.
