Toy, Monetary Donations Due Dec. 15Rockville, Md., Nov. 21 – The City of Rockville’s Holiday Drive continues into December, with collection boxes accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys or books and $20 Giant or Target gift cards. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations through 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15: City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., third floor lobby (Vinson Street entrance). Glenview Mansion at Rockville Civic Center Park, 603 Edmonston Drive. Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave. Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive. Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, 355 Martins Lane. Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive. Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway. Dawson’s Market, 225 N. Washington St. (in Rockville Town Square). Food Lion, 845 Rockville Pike (in Wintergreen Plaza). Giant Food, 625 Hungerford Drive. Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, 1750 Rockville Pike. Tax-deductible contributions may also be sent to the Community Services Division, 111 Maryland Ave., 1st Floor, Rockville, MD 20850. Checks should be payable to “Rockville Holiday Drive Fund.” The drive typically provides food to more than 500 Rockville households, helping some of the more than 4,600 city residents who experience chronic food insecurity. Last year, the drive provided 1,000 new toys to nearly 500 children and gift cards to 205 teens. The continued success of the drive depends on a collaborative partnership with local churches, schools, civic organizations, service clubs, businesses, nonprofits and individuals working together to make the holidays special for the less fortunate.
