Have a fantastic Thursday! – Liz TranThe Asian American Health Initiative (a part of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services), is announcing an exciting opportunity for a free training workshop on mental health, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) on Saturday, February 17th. What is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)? MHFA is a nationally-certified 8 hour, evidence based course that provides participants with the invaluable skills to recognize mental health problems, decrease stigma surrounding mental illness, and offer productive help to those who may be experiencing a crisis. This course will be taught by a trained instructor from EveryMind, and will be comprised of four modules, equipping you with the tools you need to address mental health in your communities. Attendees who complete the course will also receive a Certificate in Mental Health First Aid USA, which will be valid for three years. How to Register? This training has been exclusively set up by AAHI and is invitation only. However, in sending this invitation, we are inviting VNMAP to identify 2-5 interested individuals to attend this workshop. As space is limited for this workshop, registration is required. Please RSVP by January 26th. You may register online by filling out this following Google Registration Form. Commitment This training is being offered to you free of cost. However, we ask that those who participate in this training commit to educating at least 30 individuals on this topic following completion of the MHFA certification, and report back to AAHI on this commitment by May 18th, 2018. Attendees will be given copies of AAHI’s mental health photonovels to assist them in their educational commitment. Event Logistics The training will be held on February 17th from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. The address is 1401 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD, 20852. Breakfast and lunch will be provided!
