For Immediate Release: Wednesday, July 25, 2018 The Wheaton TGIF Free Concert Series will continue at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27, as “The Crawdaddies” highlight the fourth of the six summer concerts at Wheaton Veterans Urban Park. The park is located at 11200 Amherst Ave. and Reedie Drive in Wheaton (behind the Safeway supermarket and one block from the Wheaton Metro Station). Attendees are advised to bring chairs or blankets to better enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. The Crawdaddies have been touring since 1995, earning a strong grass roots following with a unique sound and their high-energy live shows. The band has played a full spring and summer schedule across the Mid-Atlantic Region. In the previous two weekends, the Crawdaddies have played at the Central PA Arts Festival at Penn State University and at Artscape, Baltimore’s largest annual street festival. The members of The Crawdaddies are Kraig Greff (accordion, piano and Hammond B3); Chris Huntington (vocals, guitar); John Kane (vocals, washboard, acoustic guitar); Rod Gross (drums) and Ian Trusheim (bass, vocals). Each has an impressive and diverse performance resume, including 2008 Emmy award recipient Greff, who has toured with Della Reese, Barry White, Joe Williams and Diana Ross. The Crawdaddies released their fifth full length recording entitled “Laniappe” in January 2017. The Wheaton TGIF Free Concert Series is hosted by the Wheaton Urban District in partnership with Montgomery County Parks. Concerts will be held the second and fourth Fridays of July and August.
