The Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association (MVMA), the oldest Vietnamese American community-based non-profit organization in Maryland, has summer internship opportunities for two outstanding individuals to excel and gain valuable experience in community empowerment. The internship period is eight (8) weeks from June 18, 2012 through August 10, 2012. These positions will report directly to the Programs Manager. Position Descriptions: Opportunities to excel and gain direct experience include (but are not limited to) the following: Program Intern · Provide weekly outreach to two Vietnamese senior organizations · Build/strengthen collaborative efforts with healthcare professionals, organizations and agencies · Provide referral services to other providers, as necessary · Do monthly media education that includes a monthly radio show, brochures, newsletters, articles, etc. · Provide translation services for clients, as needed · Recruit participants and volunteers for Vietnamese Parenting Enrichment Project (VPEP) Administrative Intern · Research grant opportunities · Prepare documents needed for grant proposals · Assist in grant writing · Prepare grant budgets · Provide project reports and service information, as needed · Administrative Tasks (answering phones, tracking clients, filing, ordering supplies) Qualifications: · Desire to empower the community and make a difference · Strong verbal and written communication skills · Well-organized and self-directed · Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently · Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint · Available to work a minimum of 32 hours per week · Bilingual in Vietnamese/English preferred To Apply: Submit your resume and cover letter to Ms. Quynh Nguyen, Programs Manager, at Quynh@mdvietmutual.org by June 18, 2012.
