The Mayor and Council Members each serve a four-year term. The terms of office for Mayor Sidney Katz and Council Members Henry F. Marraffa, Jr. and Michael A. Sesma will expire in November. City residents who are registered to vote in Montgomery County are automatically registered to vote in City of Gaithersburg elections. The deadline to register for the upcoming City election is Monday, October 21, 2013. For registration information contact the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 240-777-VOTE (8683) or visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov/elections. Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2013. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Rockville operates under a council-manager form of government. Under the council-manager form of government, the elected body—in the case of Rockville, the five-member Mayor and City Council—is responsible for establishing policy, passing local laws and developing an overall vision for the city. They appoint a city manager to oversee the daily operations of the government and implement the policies they’ve established. Residents who live within the corporate limits of the city and are registered to vote may vote in City of Rockville elections. Rockville is divided into 10 voting districts. Over the five days, 226 voters cast ballots. To see what wards are voting and how many voters turned out each day, review the voter turnout to date (PDF). On Tuesday, November 5, the polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm. All voting takes place at the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Avenue. Voting is quick and easy. Same-day/on-site registration is available during voting hours. Expanded voter eligibility in Takoma Park elections includes residents who are 16/17 years old, residents on parole or probation after a felony conviction, and residents who are not citizens of the United States. Although there will be no early voting on Monday, voters who absolutely cannot make it to the polls on Tuesday should contact the City Clerk at 301-891-7267 or by email to arrange to vote an in-person absentee ballot.
